In part two of our side project, we continue the transformation of a 34 year old ex-library bus into a hotel on wheels/car transporter. In this part, we try and shed a little more weight from the truck by taking a look at what lurks beneath the floor...

While you're there might as well put the drive around the proper side of the vehicle.😑 Tighten till bolt breaks then back off 1/4 turn. I would be willing to help you but I'm way too lazy for that.

There's probably 200 dollars worth of copper in those cables and wires. I hope you didn't just bin them, and instead took them to a recycler or scrap yard, it may be worth your time if you still have them.

I love how nicely you work together. Obviously good chums.

The brake line at 5:00 is the most marvelous thing I have ever seen. Reminds me of a South Main Auto video where the customer had barely-functional brakes (no pads at all, just metal to metal), drove it to the shop, and asked them to fix the AC!! In MY world, when the car needs a laundry-list of repairs before it will move, the first item is the brakes. Every. Single. Time. For every start-of-motion, there WILL be a stop-of-motion. My life's goal is to always accomplish that stop without harming any humans.

Odd question (yep, rewatching this series)... Since the cab can't be flipped open given the box design yet all those fancy hinges to allow it to be flipped open are in place - is that an opportunity for weight savings. By that I mean, remove them in favor of some weight optimized Bad Obsession heavy duty bracketry? Then again, thinking it over it might not be worth the time and hassle of trying to remove that stuff...

110 HP, 750kg. I have a motorbike not much younger, with only a little less power, and that's 30-35kg for the engine I think.

LMFAO "cheeter bars" on wheel nuts, that was an ak47 cheeter bar! and with how tight the wheel nuts was it was needed!! I remember driving thos cargos back in the 80's postcode between gear ratios is very accurate! as a driver and wannabee fitter its great watching you work, and its amazing how much crap comes apart to do some jobs!!

Re: Stuck \ corroded nuts an bolts, years ago I worked on some meat factory equipment and so couldn't use WD or +Gas but had to use something called FoodLube. It is v expensive but It's price is in relation to how good it is. WD ( lubricant 3/10) +Gas ( dismantling fluid - USA - PB Blas...6/10) and Ffoodlube ( dismantling fluid 9/10). It is expensive but it works.

I genuinely hope they replace the engine and transmission. A good old CAT engine or a Cummins would be cool to see. Potentially paired with an Allison automatic.
