In this installment of our seemingly never ending quest to build one of the world's fastest Mini's, we wrestle with the power steering, make a minor adjustment to the flip front mechanism and think about how to get some heating in the car.

With that monster exhaust right under the floor, I don't think you'll be short of cabin heat once the engine's running... ;-)

Always wondered why you used a fan speed resistor here and didnt just PWM the output to it....

As Nic(?) says, this may be taking time, but it will be worth it in the end - something totally custom, done right, and well thought out. If you rushed it, you be unsatisfied with the result, and you would always look back, with a view of “if only I had done xyz”. Such an awesome job!

I´m amazed of your work. I do not understand half of your words but I love what you do and how you do it. I´ve never saw people with half of the skill of yours. I love how you work with your hands and your imagination. I have no words to express what I feel when I see your videos. Thanks for all your work, I hope you can get a bigger audience here in FIpost, because I think this is one of the best channels I´ve ever saw (excuse my bad English).

Besides the awesome fabrication, whats really surprising is that Nick actually uses his angle grinders with the safety guard on. I dont know how he sees anything!! If you've used an angle grinder with a cut off disc for a lot of tasks you'll know what i'm talking about...

Why don't you put high velocity computer fans directly inside fan tubes and just let them suck the air through the radiator. This way you also have the option to put on all fans instead of having to choose.

Yes the fabrication skills are great. Yes it looks awesome. Yes it's a great build series. Does it need to take 8 hours to make that bracket because it's one-off? NO! It takes 8 hours because it's a ludicrously over built bracket that doesn't need to be made that way, for literally any reason other than to take a really long time. A beautiful, functional, strong and elegant bracket could have been made in a fraction of the time that actually meets the needs of the use case. I seriously don't see the justification for such poor design when it comes to efficient use of resources. That pump sees no forces or stress other than small vibration and yet the bracket is tied into the frame of the car in more places than the pump even has on it in the first place. This is a long tradition of Bad Obsession. Build things in a way that is completely inappropriate for the use case and then claim that it had to be done. I don't get it.
CertifiedCarNut Vuosi sitten
Well Negative Nancy, where's your build? I'm pretty sure they have structural integrity, and longevity in mind.

After watching 16 Episodes I still can't understanding using that MIG welder when doing it with the TIG would have required so much less grinding and finish work in the end if any.

BLIMEY! 17:23 you allude that Project Binky is a "spare time" project. F-k OFF! Seriously? This HAS to be a fulltime gig otherwise your great grandchildren will be finishing up (and actually driving it). On the recommendation of a close bro I was directed to your channel. I watched a few episodes and didn't like them. This was a few weeks ago and yesterday and today I felt a bit under the weather and didn't feel like doing much of anything other than binge-watch Project Binky from ep 01. I liked some of it but didn't like much of it. But oh good I thought! Now I can go back and watch again so that I can click the LIKE button this time! Well done lads! I was impressed from my first viewing but now that I realise that you're not independently wealthy and can just do this to stave off boredom I am doubly impressed!

I rewatched this video for the HVAC and forgot you guys did an electric power steering pump. I bought an Astra TS pump from your neck of the woods, because Toyota MR2 pumps are all sold out here. I picked up the pump in 2016, bought a house in 2017 and finally did the conversion on my Xterra in 2018, so it took a while. I did want to retain the factory bango fitting and had a hard time explaining it to hydraulic shops, it found one who finally understood and reluctantly did it. And your right, the custom hose was the price of what I paid for the pump, and he said the next one will be more expensive. It works great with the only downfall is the dozen seconds it takes to charge up the system.
Snitchy1989 Vuosi sitten
ahh the power steering return line is made by Gates... IE: Gates Hydraulics in Saint Neots, Cambridgeshire.... My brother most probably made that pipe :P
