Bad Obsession Motorsport

6 vuotta sitten

Bad Obsession Motorsport's mental project to shoehorn the entire running gear from a Toyota Celica GT-Four into a Mini without lengthening or widening it continues in episode 6. The shell fabrication is nearly complete.

Nik, "...to the boot. Or a trunk if you are in the colonies. Its a car not a tree or an elephant." Nik you are so right. It is a car, and does NOT wear boots which are what you put on your feet when it is wet or snowy outside. In 1609, before the United Kingdom, before any colonies, a book was printed in England which said, "To the porter, for the carridge of the gentlewomens truncke." Which the Oxford English Dictionary tells us "truncke" meant "A box, ... for carrying clothes and other personal necessaries when travelling." Clearly that is what that part of the car is used for. So us "colonist" got it right, and you English are utter gits for calling it a piece of bad weather clothing. (LOL. Actually I am well aware that "boot" was in use in 1609 for a part of a horse drawn coach, where footmen sat, and later for the space under their seats where they kept their possessions, so by the time cars were invented the sense that a boot was a luggage storage compartment in a human wheeled transportation machine was common.)

Gimbled welding support; nice! This is how they weld tank hulls at the Manufacturing Facility for Armaments at Mizil, Romania. As the Welding Engineer said " it's hard enough welding armour plate without brining positional welding into it. All welds downhand thank you"
David Quirk
David Quirk 4 kuukautta sitten
@David Sheldon kind of depends where you go I think. Mizil is near to Ploesti, an oil producing town and its pretty wealthy as a result but further south it's very poor. The country side around the Prahova valley is very picturesque and there is more industry along that valley with places like Brasov. I've got a few colleagues who are from Romania, all very clever people. They always say that they're Transylvanians though!

Only just discovered Project Binky so been binge watching them. Excellent work with added good humour. The 'Try to take over the world' gag probably only works with people of a certain generation though, Generation X snowflakes don't know what they're missing!

i remember asking my teacher in welding tech school, "why would you ever weld upside down anyway?" yeah yeah yeah, buildings and stuff. welding class taught me that if you aren't welding a car or a motorcycle, or something cool, you're going to be welding it at the top of a ladder, or down in a deep hole, or somewhere very hot, cold or otherwise hazardous. i try and stick to the cool, right side up stuff.

Great work, lads. Mind-blowing fab skills. And you're right, it's a car not a tree or an elephant... or a foot, where a proper boot goes, or a lady's head, where a proper bonnet goes. And windscreen? Might as well call it a wind sieve or a wind filter. And don't get me started on ramps, which haven't actually been ramps in decades. :D Thanks for all the great content! Love all the Python cues.

Excellent series. It's called a trunk because early cars used storage trunks on the back. when the integrated into the car, the name remained. On the other hand, boots shouldn't have anything in them but your feet and socks.
