In episode 21 of Project Binky, we work on the interior of the car building a centre console and some door cards among other bits and bobs. This is all just so we can crack on with the rest of the wiring. Honest...

Binge-watching the entire series for probably the third time this year - still amazed at what you two can do in your shed, you are incredible engineers and designers. This car is probably going to end up as 25% mini 40% celica 5% MG and 30% hand-made by the time you are done.

The thumbnail provides all the proof I need that this series is for me. Two men stand beside their shiny new toy. One, Richard, is looking very happy. The other, Nik, is reading its instruction manual. Oh yeah. That's right, all you other so-called men. He's reading the instructions. A man with the guts, nuts and brains to RTFM! [Read The Funking Manual.] Do you have any idea what that does to a woman? Yes, I'm a woman, but I don't come with an instruction manual. I've found that a mug of tea and a packet of Hobnobs is quite sufficient to make me co- Sorry, this Comment censored itself. The amount of lightweight metals used makes this project an aeroplane, rather than a car. Love it!

This is just a wild thought and I know it's being expressed almost 2 years after the making of this episode. However, I do wish to say that without airbags in place, that sheet of metal in the knee area does not look very appealing in the case (no matter how far fetched that thought would be) of a frontal crash. I would suggest some plastic trim off a car that has a shape as near as possible, with some love from all the tools that Nik loves. A Vauxhall Corsa C has such a plastic trim piece, if I may suggest

16:29 Cutting Aluminium with Slitting Disc Tip: Bar of Soap Basically this is so it doesn't clog up the disc with Alu, due to melting from friction. You could also clean it up by cutting Scrap PVC from time to time.

Gentlemen, I am quite enjoying your job on "Binky" and the details and quality are far above the Colonist idiot box programming. Brings me back to the time before M.S. robbed me of my hands, mind and body. You men do put a smile on an old gals face, thank you. However, you online shop doesn't have "Ralph" Understandably, your merchandise is for the fans, supporters and active petrol heads. But having "Ralph" or something of the sort would be great for those gals still in the field and or retired from it. Anyway, thanks guys and much love to you both. ~Ruby

Simon Vuosi sitten
For cable tie cutting I recommend flush cutters which do away with the barb being left by standard side cutters. RS Components and Knipex do some nice examples but I imagine there are plenty of other manufacturers. I spent years panel wiring and using many hundreds/thousands of ties a day. Or if you want to splash out there are automatic tension and cut guns for cable ties that have adjustable tension settings, Cable Craft have some nice ones of those.

I've worked with free alloy & stainless sheet a fair bit; and suspect the material above is a bit soft (NS3 - designed for punch out on a big CNC punch). Possibly look at some NS4 for other bits. It drills far better.

Since the mantra of this build seems to be "Over engineer and over build everything."...but hey, I get it, have you considered some nifty quick release mechanism in lieu of mere bolts for the seats, at least the near side one , to facilitate ease of access to your electrics...???

Yet even more weight added, it will win the heaviest mini ever produced competition, not the best way to build a "race car". Seats are too high, no head room for helmets etc.
Bad Obsession Motorsport
Bad Obsession Motorsport Vuosi sitten
Of course, you are right; this is not the way to build a race car. But since we've never been building this as a race car - we have clearly stated multiple times this is a road car - then we're pretty sure it'll be fine thanks.
